My inspiration is always process. In the mixed media work I produce, the outcomes generally stem from finding a procedure that appeals to me and learning all of it’s possibilities. Be that in Photography (through film and analogue formats), Graphics (adhering to working methods) or Made objects (incorporating processes such as slip casting). I do not have a specialist subject as such. My past employment has led to designing logos for companies, photographing and helping produce designs for clients. These skillsets have been incorporated into my personal working method, allowing creative fluidity that spans multiple disciplines. I believe the benefits this has on the outcomes of my projects is far greater than a focusing solely on one way of working.
Photography is my main concentration right now. I am producing images that challenge the sensationalist headlines that tabloids confront us with, aiming to produce a body of work that question the effects this proliferation of negativity can have on wider society. The body has recently been focused to the ways in which Migrants are portrayed by “popular” press.
